Fire Protection Engineering Scholarship

The Southern California Chapter of SFPE (SoCal SFPE) awards an annual academic scholarship to the most qualified candidate(s) in the amount of $3,000. The primary purpose of the SoCal SFPE Scholarship Award is to promote interest and public awareness of the science and practice of fire protection engineering (FPE) and to promote and encourage students to study for a career in FPE.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

•  Applicants must be currently or planning on enrolling in a FPE program, or conducting research related to FPE.
• Preference will be given to applicants in the following order:
• Applicants attending on-campus at California Polytechnic State University – San Luis Obispo.
• Applicants attending online at California Polytechnic State University – San Luis Obispo.
• Applicants attending other universities and residing in the SoCal SFPE geographic area (see below for list of counties).
• San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Riverside, Los Angeles, Orange, and San Bernardino.
• All others.
  

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Eligible applicants must submit all of the following items no later than December 31 via Google form link https://forms.gle/zt7zB1uFoRxR36Pr8

• The application which is available online at www.SFPESoCal.org
• A transcript from previous term of study
• A resume
• Documentation showing enrollment status in a Fire Protection Engineering program
• Any other information the applicant feels would assist in the selection process. Include an explanation if any of the above item(s) are not applicable to you.

• Letter of Recommendation from an academic source such as previous/current professor no later than December 31. Note that the letter must be submitted directly by the author via Google form link https://forms.gle/Q1p36cosYoSYZR3d7.

TIMELINE

• Application period ends December 31^st
• Scholarships awarded by March 31^st the following year
• Scholarships are presented at the April monthly membership meeting. Awardees are asked to attend the meeting in-person (preferably) or virtually (if infeasible).
